Hello, beauty beginners! Welcome or welcome back to this latest blog post today, I will be going over the basics of skincare. When I was a beginner in skincare, I remember being so confused about all the products and what the purpose of each one was, so I am here to break it all down for you!

Cleanser
A cleanser is probably one of the most common types of skincare! A cleanser removes makeup, bacteria, oils, dirt, and dead skin cells from the skin. Cleanser also helps with preventing acne and keeping pores clear! Recently I switched to natural skincare, so far so good! Before that, I was using the La Roche Posay Gentle Cleanser, you can read my full in-depth review here for more.
Exfoliation
Exfoliation helps with removing dead skin cells, resulting in soft, bright skin! Exfoliating 1-2 times a week is enough, don’t do more than that. If you’re looking for an amazing, cheap exfoliator I’ve got you covered! I use the Acure Anti-Aging Rose Exfoliator, this smells so good and leaves my skin feeling the softest! I was shocked the first time I used it too, if you’re looking for one product to give you glowing skin this one is it!
Read everything you need to know about exfoliation + a review on this Acure exfoliator here!
Moisturizer
Moisturizer is crucial, especially for dry skin! Moisturizer helps with preventing dryness, slowing the signs of aging, and helps with fighting acne. You can apply moisturizer day and night, night cream is also a good option for your night moisturizer!
Eye Cream
Eye cream helps with minimizing the look of puffiness, reducing the appearance of aging around your eyes, giving your eyes a brightening boost, and giving your eyes the hydration it needs! When I use using it, I noticed the most difference especially in the morning, I looked a lot more awake!
If you’re interested in learning more I wrote a whole blog post about eye cream here!
Jade Roller
You’ve probably heard of a jade roller, they provide tons of benefits! Jade rollers can help with sculpting, reducing puffiness, brightening, and detoxifying your skin. If you haven’t used one you should definitely try it out, it will leave your skin feeling so good and relaxed! Bonus tip: put your jade roller in the fridge to give your skin a cooling treat, perfect for the summer!
I even wrote an in-depth blog post about jade roller, read here!
SPF
SPF helps with protecting your skin from harmful sun rays! Make sure to wear sunscreen every day too, not just sunny days. Sunscreen helps with reducing signs of aging, protecting your skin from sunburn, and limiting the appearance of sunspots.
Facial Spray
Facial spray helps with hydrating the skin, giving you a dewy finish! You can also use facial spray after doing your makeup to lock everything in. Recently I’ve been loving the Heritage Store Rosewater, especially since it’s summer and gets hot rosewater is an amazing treat for my skin. I would definitely recommend it if you are looking for something to cool down your skin with!
Facial Steamer
Facial steamers aren’t necessary for your skincare routine! This is just a fun thing you can do to give your skin a treat. The benefits of using a facial steamer are opening up your pores to soften blackheads, brighter skin, and blood circulation!
You can learn more about facial steamers here.
Sheet Masks
Sheet masks are generally safe for all skin types! Sheet masks can help with targeting all types of skin concerns such as dryness, dullness, and tiredness. What I love about sheet masks is that there are TONS of variety, and sheet masks are very affordable too! I would recommend the TONYMOLY Superfood Sheet Masks because this kit targets different skin benefits and is a great price!
Lip Balm
This one is pretty obvious but lip balm helps with keeping lips moisturized! I love Burt’s Bees lip balm, they keep my lips moisturized and last a long time too.
