Have you ever wondered how to make a sugar scrub but didn’t know how? These ingredients are most likely in your kitchen so let’s get started!
Please always make sure to be gentle when exfoliating your skin, and use caution if you have sensitive skin.
You can play around with the different sugars and oils to find the perfect combination for your skin type!
Types of Sugar:
Brown Sugar: This is a good choice if you have sensitive skin. Since this one is the gentlest you can use it up to four times a week!
Turbinado Sugar: This is the roughest because it contains large granules. This sugar is the least processed and because of that it holds all the minerals. This can be used up-to two times a week.
Pure Cane Sugar: This is good for all skin types and it can be used 2-3 times a week. Cane sugar is good because it removes dead skin cells.
Types of Oils To Try Out:
Apricot Oil: It has a light consistency and it can quickly make your skin soft and smooth. It also provides long lasting moisture. It restores dry skin and nourishes it because of its fatty acids.
Avocado Oil: Can help moisturize, protect your skin, nourishes, and treats sunburned skin.
Coconut oil: This can reduce inflammation and keeps skin moisturized.
Hazelnut Oil: Has a large amount of vitamin E so this can increase hydration in your skin. And it also improves skin elasticity to make it look supple and firm.
Hemp Seed Oil: This contains antioxidants such as Vitamin E and C. It also provides tons of moisture to the skin.
Jojoba Oil: This is a great option because it is high in Vitamin E which helps skin elasticity. (I also like to put this oil on my face and I love it!)
Olive Oil: Helps skin retain water during exfoliation, it is also really good for sensitive and dry skin.
Sesame Oil: Can help damage from UV rays, pollution, and toxins too.
Walnut Oil: This is a rich oil so it is great for skin health, eczema, and healing wounds. It is very moisturizing.
Sweet Almond Oil: This is a good option if you have dry skin since it will sooth it.
The Recipe:
- One cup of preferred sugar
- One teaspoon at a time of preferred oil
Steps:
- Pour the sugar in the bowl first.
- After that put the teaspoon of preferred oil into the bowl.
- You can put 3-5 teaspoons of the oil but you should stop at 5.
- Mix everything up and enjoy!
What Should The Consistency Be?
The consistency should be pretty thick, it reminds me of sand but it also shouldn’t be soupy.
How Long Do They Last?
All these scrubs last for one month! I recommend storing them in a glass jar, if you plan on making a lot!
