In this article we will be going over castor oil and everything you need to know! So let’s get into it!
Make sure to do a test swab before applying to make sure you are not allergic! To test, get a cotton swab and apply the oil to the underside of your arm. Wait 24 hours, if nothing happens you are good! If you see any redness, irritation, or any allergic reaction you know not to use it!
What Is Castor Oil?
Castor oil has been used for thousands of years because of its multipurpose uses. It is made from extracting the oil from the Ricinus communis plant! A simpler term for the name is castor bean!
What Can I Use It For?
- You can use it for growing your hair, keeping it in for 1-2 hours once a week can make your hair thicker and longer!
- Eyelashes, castor oil can help with getting stronger, thicker, and longer eyelashes! Back in March I started putting the oil on my eyelashes and I saw significant results!
- Eyebrows, you can also put the oil on your eyebrows to make your hair grow thicker quicker!
- Applying to your skin, you can get a cotton ball and spread the oil. Castor oil is especially good because it contains Omega-3 fatty acids and that keeps the skin hydrated!
- Preventing hair fall, castor oil helps your roots gets stronger and so because of that it can prevent hair loss.
How Do I Apply Castor Oil To My Hair?
- Make sure to put a towel over yourself because it can get messy!
- Comb your hair out till there are no knots.
- Put some of the oil into the palm of your hand and start by massaging the oil into your scalp. (It depends how much you put depending on the thickness of your hair).
- As you finish massaging your scalp start moving down the rest of the hair.
- Keep it in for a minimum of 15-20 minutes or you could keep it in as long as overnight.
- In the morning make sure to wash all the oil off in the shower, and then you are done!
How Do I Apply It To My Lashes?
- Make sure your eye area is completely clean before applying. I would recommend washing your face so that you can get all the dirt and makeup of your face.
- Get the castor oil, and apply it to the root of the lash and slowly go up to the tip of it. Making sure to avoid oil getting into the eyes. (I will have an empty mascara tube linked below so that it is easier to apply on, since it can get messy!)
- When you wake up in the morning make sure to wash off the oil with a warm washcloth!
- Boom! You will start seeing results within a few weeks of doing this! Personally I saw visible results three weeks later! They got longer, and stronger!
My Experience:
My experience with castor oil was actually really good! The oil made my hair shinier, softer, and a little bit longer. I only used it once a week for about 2 months but if you continue to use it I am sure your hair will grow longer and your hair would get really healthy!
Additional Tips:
- I would recommend when you use castor oil to put it on at night because it’s pretty shiny, so it would be pretty noticeable when out in public.
- When you are applying the oil to your eyelashes make sure you only get a little amount since it is very thick! I will link a empty mascara tube down below since that will be easier than using your finger to apply it! This also applies for your eyebrows!
- Make sure to not put the Castor oil in your hair more than once a week, because this can lead to buildup and cause issues like matting!
- If the castor oil gets into your eyes when you are applying it make sure to immediately wash your eye out with water.
- It depends how much oil you put depending on the thickness of your hair.
