Hydration
I cannot stress how important it is to start with a hydrated base when starting makeup! If your concealer is looking cakey and clumping that means you aren’t starting with a hydrated base to work with. How to fix this problem is using any spraying facial spray or moisturizer onto your skin 3 minutes before starting your makeup. This way you will end up with a moisturized base to work with! I highly recommend the Heritage Store Rosewater, I’ve been using it since I was little! This product also makes my skin feel so hydrated, refreshed, and has the lightest smell of roses. It’s amazing!
Application
This is something that isn’t talked about as much but the applicator you use is crucial to the finish of your makeup! When I started out I was using a huge brush and it looked so splotchy and uneven! One day I couldn’t find the regular concealer brush so I used a smaller brush to apply the concealer and omg it literally looked completely different! Granted, it will take more time but the concealer is going to look a lot more even and neater with this hack. You can also use a makeup blender, I recommend this Anastasia one, it works very well!
If you are applying the concealer after foundation then pat the concealer in with a beauty blender or your finger so you don’t smudge your base! Remember to pat the concealer onto your skin, don’t blend!
Eyeshadow Primer
If you don’t have eye primer that’s ok! Luckily you can use your concealer, apply a little bit onto your eyelids then apply your eyeshadow. This will help with making your eyeshadow less likely to creasing and fading! Speaking from experience this works very well, and it makes the eyeshadow look a lot more vibrant, the colors really come through!
Shaping
The shape in which you apply your concealer is also important so I’ll go over that now! If you’re applying your concealer in dots there’s actually a more beneficial way. If you’re looking for a lifted look try out applying it like this:
This is going to give you a naturally lifted look, it works so well too! A quick tip: when applying make sure to use a small brush, first blend the under eyes than when you’re moving onto the line blend the concealer going upwards! This is going to really show the lifted look.
Dark Circles
If you’re looking to cover dark circles here’s a hack! Grab your concealer and apply it as an upside-down triangle, make sure to fill in the triangle with concealer too. Then blend it in, you can use a beauty blender or makeup brush, whatever you prefer! This should help with minimizing the appearance of dark circles. This is because the upside-down triangle will give the impression that your face is lifted, pretty neat!
Concealer that I recommend
If you’re looking for a fabulous cheap concealer I’ve found it! It’s Maybelline Instant Age Rewind, it’s also full coverage. The benefits of this concealer are that it erases the look of dark circles, it’s also anti aging concealer, and it helps with reducing the appearance of fine lines, dark circles, blemishes, and redness! As of now, it has over 70,000 five-star reviews. I’ve been using this concealer since February and have loved it ever since, especially because of the price it’s a steal! I would recommend starting out with a hydrated base when working with this concealer specifically, it’s going to give you a refreshed finish and it also works better when your skin is hydrated!
